About event
VERDI in the mansion
symphonic concert in the atmosphere of Italian opera nobility
Csáky's mansion will be transformed into a space of great Italian music during the festival evening. The Verdi symphony concert in the mansion will bring the most beautiful orchestral moments from the works of Giuseppe Verdi - a composer whose music is still a symbol of operatic passion, dramatic destiny, love, defiance and strong human emotion.
The year 2026 also marks 125 years since the death of Giuseppe Verdi, which gives the concert a natural jubilee framework. The program is conceived as an opera without an opera house - without singers, but with the full force of an orchestra that can tell Verdi's stories through preludes, intermesses and symphonic pieces.
The Győr Philharmonic, an orchestra with a rich tradition, whose predecessor was founded in 1862 as the Győr Music and Singing Association, will perform. Over the decades, it has developed into a respected body with international experience and regularly represents Hungarian musical culture at home and abroad.
The conductor of the evening will be Zsolt Hamar, a prominent personality of the Hungarian conducting school. On the recommendation of the legendary Zoltán Kocsis, he became the first permanent conductor of the Hungarian National Philharmonic in 1997 and served as its music director from 2017 to 2020. He has collaborated with several important orchestras in Europe and Asia and is one of the conductors who can combine technical precision with great musical emotion.
The Verdi concert in the mansion will bring an evening full of Italian elegance, strong melodies and orchestral beauty in a space that will naturally support the nobility of the entire program with its historic atmosphere.
The project was created thanks to the support of the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Center Bratislava / Liszt Intézet Pozsony.
