Many of the works of antiquity kept today in Czech collections are so -called anonymous. This means that we are able to reveal the date of their origin by studying, sometimes the approximate place of their birth and the function or cultural affiliation of their creator, but we do not know anything about their finding and how it happened or how, why and what the subject eventually found itself in our territory. Until recently, a similarly mysterious object located in the collections of the National Heritage Institute at the Jindřichův Hradec Castle. Coincidence and readiness to deal with things, however, changed this situation and marble, embossed Greek stele, until recently not fully known forms, begins to uncover again and live their second, poantic life.
