About event

Expeditions to ancient Egypt
🐪 Building materials and buildings played an important role in the everyday life of ancient Egyptians. We usually associate the country on the Nile with monumental stone buildings - for example, with huge pyramids in Giza or with large temple complexes in Karnak and Luxore. However, most of the buildings were built of lighter building materials such as cane, wood and dried bricks, mainly for residential architecture.

🐪 In the lecture we will look at how the individual materials were obtained, transported to the construction site and how their use varied depending on the function of the construction, a specific part or building element. The issue of religious connotations of some materials will also be an important topic.
