The story of GAVIAL begins almost 15 years ago as a project based on a Nirvana song and a play on words as “Two Red Boys”. Three albums as TOURETTE BOYS, two collaborations with Tim Holehouse and a split EP with label mates Gaffa Ghandi followed, as well as countless gigs and tours with bands like Acid Mothers Temple, Dyse, Gaffa Ghandi, The Skull, True Widow and Sleepy Sun. The basis is a close friendship between the musicians, even though they live in different cities. The vast and untouched landscapes between Berlin and Dresden may have contributed to the inspiration for the sound, whose psychedelic otherworldliness is always grounded in modern blues and is more reminiscent of the desert rock that we know from the vastness of Arizona than of the urban hustle and bustle of the big city. Shimmering soundscapes, sometimes dark and melancholic, sometimes filled with hope by dazzling light and the pleasant but nevertheless ominous heat of the desert - GAVIAL are true masters of this.

Gaffa Ghandi are a phenomenon because they don't fit into any common mold. First of all, they play the stoner playing field and use the expected channels. But it soon becomes clear that this is not enough for them. So they enrich the “stoner basic concept” with proper psychedelia. And because they are cheeky, courageous and clever, a juicy crimson-esque pepper mill comes over the whole thing. The mix and above all the ambition is really fun.
