United by Queerness" anlässlich des 70. Eurovision Song Contests in Wien

United by Queerness" on the occasion of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna

Dear colleagues, Vienna, city of music - and 2026 Host of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. On the occasion of this special anniversary, the Qwien Center for Queer History invites you to a two-hour training course on the special exhibition “United by Queerness”. The ESC is more than wind machines and sequins: a seismograph for social changes, a geopolitical mirror and a central place of identification for the LGBTIQ+ community for decades. Hardly any city is better suited to tell this story than Vienna - a city that not only preserves music history, but also constantly rewrites it. This training provides the tools to guide guests through the Song Contest Kosmos in a well-founded and lively manner. The focus is on:

• Seven decades of contemporary history - from the Cold War to the current debates surrounding the ESC 2026
• Legendary exhibits - iconic costumes, the original winner's medal from 1961, the famous "Equality" T-shirt by Philipp Hansa and other unique items from ESC history
• Small and large ESC details that still shape our Vienna cityscape today
