About event
Small utility or decorative items were made and still produced by soldiers in almost all long -term conflicts. However, this phenomenon has never reached the same size as during the 1st World War, when, in addition to fighting, a number of prisoners of war and civilians were involved in the production of these objects. While the objects have often been preserved to this day, the diverse social background, which was behind them, remained hidden for the eyes of post -war generations for a long time. There were many professional artists among the Czech soldiers who participated in the fighting in the front trenches during the First World War. Their successful career was forcibly interrupted for several years. Despite the unsatisfactory conditions, however, did not give up and adapted their work to war purposes. For example, František Kupka began to illustrate the magazine of the Czech Colony in Paris after an injury and a subsequent return from the queue in 1915. On the Eastern Front, the painter František Parolek founded an art group of Czech retinue in the same year. Ilona Krbcova, Mgr. Petr Bjaček
