About event
Performative lecture of the Late Harvest group: Roots of dance experiment.
The artistic movements of the 1960s made their mark in the history of dance with the courage to experiment with established conventions in artistic creation. Creative experiments of dance artists of this period, o.i. Yvonne Rainer, Steve Paxton, David Gordon, Thisha Brown, Deborah Hay, influenced and continue to influence generations of dancers.
The lecture is based on the starting points of postmodern dance and the personalities who created it. It offers an experiment in the format of a performative lecture. It uses the space between the lecture with authentic video demonstrations and live dance entries demonstrating principles and detailed interrelationships. It presents the original version of the performance Tria A (chor. Yvonne Rainer), contact improvisation and formal compositional methods of postmodern dance. Dance demonstrations are presented by Anna Sedlačková and Daniel Raček. Michaela Mihaľová, a graduate of the HTF VŠMU and dance pedagogue, together with the students of Dance Theater and Performance, will perform as a guest.
The authors of the project are long-time dancer and pedagogue Anna Sedlačková and Daniel Raček, an equally long-time dancer and contemporary dance pedagogue, who need no special introduction on the Slovak and international scene. They have transformed their rich experience in the field of improvisation, contact improvisation and postmodern compositional procedures into a format that brings contemporary dance closer to the audience based on its roots in the history of art from the second half of the 20th century.
The Roots of Dance Experiment project was supported by the Art Support Fund from public sources.
PocketArt: Treatment of Remembering – Alerted
"Imagine that you are breathing."
At a time when human-exhausted nature no longer exists, twelve female performers undergo a procedure of remembering together with the audience - Treatment of Remembering. In the poetic dance images, female performers fall into a state of remembering nature in an empty space-time. By awakening memories of long-forgotten experiences within the Treatment of Remembering procedure, attention is paid to the uniqueness of physical and emotional experiences connected with nature. Through the artificial imitation of the world, which has replaced the real world, they draw attention to the ever-increasing displacement of the natural environment by artificial products of human activity. The sensitivity of the sound design and author's music together with the distinctive lighting atmospheres intensify the intensity of sensory perception and complete the work filled with the constant vibration of creation and destruction. However, from the artificially created atmospheres of calm, a strong concern emerges, which encourages the audience to reflect on their relationship with the environment.
