Desires and longings: working with addictive processes in ourselves - a path to wholeness
Three-day workshop September 25-27, 2026, Lecturers Anup Karia & Stanislav Háša
Are you attracted to certain behaviors, substances or experiences in a way that seems to be beyond your conscious control? Do you work with people who struggle with similarly strong inner drives, or are you professionally or personally interested in this area?
This workshop offers a kind yet profound space to explore addictive tendencies—not just as problems to be eliminated, but also as meaningful signals coming from the deeper layers of our selves.
From one perspective, our lives naturally move toward greater wholeness. However, we often live one-sided and unfulfilled lives. In order to restore balance, we begin to crave what we lack.
Our addictive tendencies are rooted in both the personal and collective fields. Addiction is not just an individual story—it is deeply intertwined with dynamics in families, communities, and broader cultural systems. We will work on all of these levels and follow the process as it unfolds in individuals and in groups. Using the principles of process-oriented psychology (Process Work) we will:
- examine what addiction patterns are trying to tell us,
- work with the body, emotions and individual and collective experiences that accompany compulsive behavior,
- develop a more flexible and inquisitive relationship to difficult impulses, desires and situations,
- acquire practical tools that can be used for personal and professional development practice.
Who is the workshop intended for?
For anyone who wants to better understand their own addictive tendencies, and for professionals working in the field of helping professions, therapy, coaching or supporting people with addictive behavior. Previous knowledge of process-oriented psychology is not a requirement.
The workshop is designed to be accessible to all participants and at the same time offer sufficient depth to those who already have experience with Process Work. We will work individually, in pairs, in small groups and in the whole group.
