About event
The Necks - Masters of your own musical language/piano, bass, drums
For more than thirty years of their existence, The Necks have built an international reputation as masters of their own musical language. Their minimalist, repetitive improvisation with piano, drums and bass sounds as if it were based on one single unknown instrument. They worked with artists such as: Brian Eno, Swans, Evan Parker, Karl Hyde and several symphony orchestras. 8 years ago, they traveled Australia as opening Act Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, in 2019 they worked with Underworld on their new audiovisual series, and Michael Gira on the Swans album. Trio The Necks has made 18 albums and has a reputation as the best of the cult, stylishly unclassified bands. It creates finely structured sound surfaces that draw on jazz and minimalism, and the stylish boundaries freely exceed. Each of the members has earned respect as a strong and independent personality - drummer Tony Buck accompanied Jazzman Branford Marsalis and Ernie Watts, leads hardcore improvisation line -up Peril. Basista Lloyd Swanton released eight albums with his band The Catholic, with whom he was nominated three times at Aria prices, which is the Australian version of Grammy. He won a great reputation when he accompanied Bluesman Jimmy Witherspoon and won three times in Australian Jazz and Blues. The band has existed for over thirty years, its music is referred to as jazz trance and for the continuation of European experimental groups such as Can or Faust. The door to the world opened the album Hanging Gardens of 1999, followed by a tour in the US and distribution on the network of avant -garde British brand RER. Their album, Open, presents a music labyrinth, made of many hours of improvisation and finally focused on an area of 68 minutes. The creative procedures of the group follow the pioneer of ambient, Brian Enna, but the result has stronger dynamics, warm colors of instruments and warm emotions. The basic set enriches the organ and guitar with other tools that create sound landscapes on the brink of dreams and fantasies. An even stronger experience is to see a group live - the concert will start a seemingly simple figure that other players develop, add new and new layers. Ill-observed changes result in real time majestic architecture with each other permeating and crossing melodic lines that captivate the listeners as easily as in other situations of relentless rhythms of transient ceremonies.
