About event
TIME SCHEDULE:
19:00 - open door

20:00 - TKDE concert
After Sun Kil Moon in Klarisky, Emma Ruth Rundle in the Primatial Palace or Zola Jesus in Slovak Rozhlas, the Nu Sound Of... concert series brings another important name - the cult Dutch collective The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (TKDE). This extraordinary artistic experience will take place on July 4, 2026 in the beautiful historical monument of Klariska.
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (TKDE) emerges from the shadows between sound and film - a musical collective whose work resembles a forgotten dream trapped between reality and the subconscious. Their music exists in the space between surrealism and sublimity, where sound turns into image and image into emotion.
The project was founded in 2000 by Jason Köhnen and Gideon Kiers as live musical reinterpretations of soundtracks to silent film classics such as Metropolis or Nosferatu. However, the original concept quickly grew into a unique artistic organism that redefined the very concept of atmosphere.
Over time, the line-up expanded to include Hilary Jeffery (trombone, effects), Charlotte Cegarra (vocals) and Eelco Bosman (guitar). Collective improvisation, cinematic thinking and a sense of tension have created an unmistakable sonic identity — dark, deep and immersive. TKDE organically connects ambient, doom, jazz, post-rock and experimental electronica in the form of a different kind of storytelling: not with words, but with images in the mind of the listener.
Their concerts are known as hypnotic audiovisual rituals, where music combines with abstract film projections to create a unified, evocative experience. Each performance is unrepeatable — it is created directly in the present moment, on the edge between composition and improvisation.
The influence of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble still resonates in the contemporary dark jazz and experimental electronic scene. TKDE remains one of the most innovative and enduring collectives of its kind — a project that crosses the boundaries of genres and media.
They perform very exceptionally, so don't miss their performance on July 4, 2026 in Bratislava's Klarisky.
