About event
The band has played with Gary in various configurations since its inception.
At first they played in a semi-acoustic form with Gary on acoustic guitar, Rob Townsend on congas, Jack Fletcher on bass and John Evans on lead guitar.
The second version, which played more in an electric form, consisted of Gary on acoustic and electric slide guitar, Pick Withers on drums, Steve Ling on lead guitar and Jack Fletcher again on bass.
More recently, Gary (The Blues Band / author of "Greenstuff") played acoustic guitar, slide, banjo and ukulele, Dave Kelly's son Sam Kelly on drums, Steve Simpson on lead guitar, Tom Leary on violin and Jack Fletcher on bass.
An occasional acoustic line-up consisted of Gary playing various acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, Hughie Flint on djembe and bodhran, Alan Glen on harmonica, Tom Leary on violin and sometimes Jack Fletcher on bass.
The current line-up (as of summer 2022) consists of Gary Fletcher on guitar, Tom Leary (Lindisfarne, Feast of Fiddles etc.) violin, Alan Glen (Yardbirds, Nine Below Zero etc.) harmonica, Andy Billups (The Hamsters) bass, as well as Nick Ritchie (Canto, Mud) guitar and Sam Kelly (Tom Robinson, Circulus) on drums.
The GFB also has from benefited from time to time from other good musicians joining her - Paul Jones once joined us at the Wickham Festival, old friend Bernie Marsden once filled in for the band in Southport, while Tom McGuinness joined us at the Eel Pie Club for the band helped out. As well as appearing on Gary Fletcher's albums, Mark Feltham has also appeared at GFB shows from time to time.
