About event

Can you believe it's been fifty years since London punks The Damned burst onto the scene? To celebrate this big milestone, they set out in the original three-member line-up on an anniversary tour, with which they will visit the Roxy club in Prague on July 8, 2026!

🎫 Tickets on sale from May 21, 10:00, at GoOut ▶️ https://goout.net/cs/the-damned-50th-anniversary-show/szmcljy/.

The Damned's epic history began in 1976 when Brian James, Dave Vanian (David Lett), Captain Sensible (Raymond Burns) and Rat Scabies (Chris Millar) came together and in the same year they released the single "New Rose" as the first punk band in London. They were thus at the birth of a genre that no one could yet properly describe.

But what followed was a turbulent period when the band broke up three times - in the late 1970s, late 1980s and early 1990s. Nevertheless, they have managed to release a total of 13 studio albums so far and changed genre coats several times. The members admit that they will forever be known as "punks The Damned", although they haven't been a punk band since 1978. They also gradually immersed themselves in the world of psychedelic pop or goth. Their seventeen-minute long prog-psychedelic epic "Curtain Call" is definitely worth mentioning.

Their latest album, Not Like Everybody Else (2026), featuring the original trio of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies together for the first time since 1995, is dedicated to Brian James, who died in March 2025. The album consists entirely of covers of songs that connected the four of them in the early days of the band. "One thing we can all agree on musically is the garage bands of the '60s," says Sensible. So this is a musical showcase of the influences that shaped The Damned.
