About event
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791): Missa brevis in B major | KV 275, for solos, mixed choir, orchestra and organ.
The St. John's Organ Cycle is also this year expanded by one choral-instrumental concert, which significantly enriches the chamber series. In 2026, we commemorate the 270th anniversary of the birth of musical genius W.A. Mozart. That is why the ensemble Bach-Collegium Praha included his composition on the program. Missa brevis B major intended for soloists, mixed choir and string orchestra is a typical example of Mozart's work full of sparkling wit, lightness and energy. The composition was written by the author in 1777 in Salzburg and it is the last mass before his departure to Vienna. The composition culminates with a captivating treatment of the Agnus Dei part, which here is one of Mozart's most charming and ends with a typically joyful "Dona nobis Pace".
