About event
Come back with us to the beginning of the 20th century, when the first villas began to appear in the originally agricultural Strašnice. We will descend into the past through the nineties, when the church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was built here by Jindřich Synek. We will examine its morphology and interior and then set out to explore the Masaryk Colony, the only joint project of Josef Gočár and Pavel Janák, as well as the rondo-cubist Freedom Colony of the Svépomoc družstva by František Albert Libra. In the Train Drivers' Colony by architects Václav Gail and Alois Šťastný, we will remember the form of the once popular garden cities and learn how such villa developments were created.
