About event
[English below] Consultation hour with Mohammed Jouni - Questions about youth migration, family reunification and discrimination
What is it like to flee to Germany as a young person? What do young refugees need to do well? Why is family reunification such an important and contested issue? How can I get involved? And how can I counteract discrimination?
Mohammed Jouni is a political education speaker, diversity and empowerment trainer. As a teenager, he co-founded the self-organization “Youths Without Borders,” which he continues to advise today. As a board member of BumF (Federal Association of Unaccompanied Minor Refugees), he advocates for the rights of young refugees. For this he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2021.
Mohammed Jouni was born in Lebanon and fled to Berlin without his family at the age of twelve. As a social worker at the BBZ (Advice and Care Center for Young Refugees and Migrants, Berlin), he has advised people and families with refugee experience for years and is calling for an immediate stop to the suspension of family reunification with subsidiary protection: Family reunification is a fundamental right and a human right. Since 2023 he has been working as a lecturer at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences for Social Work, Health and Education. In his professional, activist and advisory activities, he is tirelessly committed to the topics of anti-racism, anti-discrimination, flight and migration.
During consultation hours in the Humboldt Forum, you can ask experts your questions directly and easily - without making an appointment or waiting lists! The focus is on the open exchange of ideas with the audience.
