About event
This is not a formal conference where "partial deficiencies" will be carefully talked about. The Czech judiciary has a history of cases that cannot be dismissed with the sentence that "the court has decided". If the public power can condemn a person, deprive him of his freedom, destroy his life or deny him justice for years, he must also endure public scrutiny, precise questions and uncomfortable confrontation with specific cases. cases in which a miscarriage of justice can be hidden behind the word "authoritatively".
One of the most watched blocks will also be the case of Petr Kramný, in which new facts will be presented, including the expert assessment of Dr. James Filkins, M.D., J.D. from the USA. His perspective brings to the Czech debate experience from the environment of American projects dealing with miscarriages of justice.
The seminar will also include a video greeting by Prof. Mark A. Godsey from the USA, one of the prominent personalities associated with the American Innocence Project. During his visit to Prague, Czech television presented him as a "fighter for the unjustly convicted". It is this international dimension that is essential for the Czech debate: miscarriages of justice are not the failure of individual "unfortunate cases", but a systemic issue that requires courage, data, expertise and a willingness to admit a mistake. Come on!
