SPLIT SYSTEM (AUS)
Australia's biggest export right now is iron ore, closely followed by the equally pernicious but more eco-friendly guitar-driven rock music.
After several very successful years, the punk band Split System from Naarm/Melbourne has become a major force in rock'n'roll diplomacy. The band has spent the last few years releasing albums and seven-inch singles, while touring extensively throughout Australia, Europe and the United States with their energetic live shows.
In their relatively short existence, Split System has gained a loyal fan base at home and abroad thanks to their combination of gritty punk with catchy melodies and an energetic, rousing, frenzied live performance.
Split System had a busy 2025, when she followed up her second album from 2024 called Vol. 2 (Goner Records, Legless, Drunken Sailor) with the release of three new 7-inch singles On the Edge/On the Loose, Chemicals and No Cops In Heaven/Pull The Trigger - released on Static Shock, Legless and Drunken Sailor Records. The band embarked on a second European tour, playing sold-out shows in Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, including an appearance at the Best Kept Secret festival in the Netherlands. The band also opened for The Hives on their Australian tour.
Split System's music has been featured on international and local radio stations such as KCRW, KEXP, WMFU, BBC Radio 6, Double J, RRR, PBS and FBI Radio.
The band's 2024 album titled Vol. 2 reached the top 100 on the NACC (North American College & Community Radio Chart), ranked #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Sales chart, and #4 on the ARIA Australian Albums chart. The band has also been featured on sites such as Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Pitchfork, Monster Children and Post Trash.
BIBIONE (CZ)
Bibione is a post-punk trio from Prague that redefines the term girl "boyband" with uncompromising DIY energy and insight.
The band combines raw guitar lines, minimalistic bass and pounding drums into an energetic mix of surf-punk, noise-rock and grunge of the nineties. Their work is based on straightforward sound, catchy riffs and natural stage chemistry, which makes every concert an intense experience. Bibione are a loud and authentic statement of the current domestic alternative scene.
