Sovereignty and the Future of Europe

How will sovereignty shape Europe in a changing world?  How do political decisions redefine cooperation, governance, and identity?

Date: 26 May 2026
Time: 15:00-16:30
Location: Modul University Vienna Campus, Am Kahlenberg 1, 1190, Room 2.06

This Kahlenberg Lecture brings together two leading voices from policy and academia for a focused and engaging conversation.

Lord David Frost, former UK Chief Negotiator for Exiting the European Union, diplomat, and peer, joins Professor Doug Stokes, Head of the School of International Relations at Modul University Vienna, to reflect on sovereignty and the evolving political landscape of Europe.

Drawing on his central role in shaping Britain’s post-Brexit strategy, Lord Frost offers firsthand insight into diplomacy, negotiation, and the balance between national sovereignty and international cooperation. Professor Doug Stokes, a leading expert in geopolitics and international security, brings academic depth and global perspective to the discussion, connecting policy decisions with broader trends in great power politics and transatlantic relations.

Rather than a formal lecture, this event is designed as a conversation. The audience is invited to listen, reflect, and actively participate. Questions, comments, and discussion are encouraged throughout, creating space for dialogue and exchange beyond the stage.

Part of The Kahlenberg Lectures series, this event invites students, faculty, and guests to engage with ideas that shape Europe, policy, and society today.
