About event
Eva Priečková (False Move) invites you on October 25 and 26 to a weekend of exploring dance, mutual interpersonal and "more than human" relationships, rest, heaviness and lightness through sensitive listening, collective thinking and movement, which will take place on both dates from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Gyms.
Organizer's text:
The event is for all those interested in researching dance and movement in and around us. Previous experience is not necessary, a certain curiosity to explore the unknown is welcome. The space is not fully barrier-free. If you need assistance, contact eva.prieckova@gmail.com
"As we behave on a small scale, so we behave on a large scale." Adrienne Maree Brown
Soft Core is a metaphor for resistance against a strong and stable center. How can softness, delicacy, or weakness be a creative inspiration? Soft Core is a movement-based collective education that emancipates embodied sensory experience as an equal knowledge of body and mind. He does not avoid critical thinking, nor play and experiment. It is reflection, contemplation and immersion in the study of movement, but also throwing off coats and breaking free from the shackles of everyday life. At the same time, Soft Core asks: What and how shapes our individual and collective body? Personal experiences, social relationships or global challenges? How to stay aware of these challenges, not become reactionary but responsive? Can dance help with this?
Soft Core can be disoriented, crooked, falling, tired and paralyzed by the world around. We will use improvisation as an antidote to prescribed thinking and, without over-romanticisation, we will try to find reciprocity through movement that is not given in advance, often turns in a circle and may not have a clear direction - false movement. However, we will try to look for the ability to act in this movement.
It is a safe space that tries not to offer a single template, a silent discipline. It is a safe space where things can fail but then be re-created in mutual dialogue. It is a space in which we actively work with consent, trust and constant search for mutual care. Listening remains essential.
Soft Core is initiated and facilitated by Eva Priečková in cooperation with the Telocvičňa space. Since 2015, it has been hosting movement education for people of various movement experiences and skills. Participants come from different professions and backgrounds. Eva tries to offer a kind of horizontal line.
Eva Priečková
Eva Priečková (Berlin, Bratislava) is an interdependent dance artist, facilitator of dance education Studio - Soft Core. She received her master's degree at the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava. As Eva Priečková (False Move), she organizes workshops, lectures and events that combine embodied movement experience with critical thinking about the body and relationships. She is interested in dancing in different groups, ecosomatics, mourning and celebration rituals, learning to move within and around oneself, as well as dancing outside the ballroom. Eva facilitates exercise courses for different groups of people – social workers, the Roma minority and the elderly. She is interested in the potential of dance education towards social justice, interpersonal responsibility and emancipation from the unconscious repetition of normative behavior. For her, dance is an act of the impossibility of taming bodies, curious observation of the world around us, imagination, awe or sensitive listening and everything that cannot be expressed in words. She is currently a doctoral student at JAMU in Brno.
