Soap & Skin alias Anja Plaschg's career began as a prodigy of melancholic, dark songwriting. The Austrian has now released three albums and numerous compositions for theater and film and is also successful as an actress - most recently in the award-winning film “Des Teufels Bad”, for which she also wrote the soundtrack. In addition to her own songs, she impresses with cover songs in impressive new interpretations. Known for their transformative power, Soap & Skin is continually asked to reinterpret songs. When the Donau Festival invited her to perform all the cover pieces she had created over the years in one evening in 2022, she came up with the idea of a permanent collection.
With “TORSO”, an entire cover album was released in November 2024 with songs by David Bowie, Tom Waits, The Doors and the “Lifetime Version” of the French hit “Voyage”. Voyage" by Desireless from 1989. This song version is a perfect example of Soap & Skin's art: she has been singing the song for many years, letting it grow and changing her interpretation again and again. So this version is probably the sum of previous employment, but certainly not the end point.
