About event
The popular British group Smokie will return to the Czech Republic after many years!
Last time under the auspices of Brnokoncert, they performed in Prague and Brno in 2017, when both the Lucerny Hall and the Sono Center in Brno sold out. Before that in 2015, they celebrated for 40 years with their fans in Prague, Brno and Ostrava, and even this series of concerts was a huge success. Now he will visit the Czech Republic as part of the worldwide Greatest Hits World Tour 2025. The advance for this concert will be exclusively ensured by the Ticketmaster network ( www.ticketmaster.cz
Don't Play Your Rock 'N' Roll to Me, Living Next Door To Alice or Oh Carol are still hits whose melodies have listeners in the ears and have not yet disappeared from playlists of radio stations. The popularity is also evidenced by the fact that some of the hits have even seen their cover versions in the Czech Republic (for example, Alice in the Wonderland by Karel Zich, the soap prince from Václav Neckář or lose no shame from Argema).
The beginnings of the band dates back to 1965, when at the grammar school in Bradford, England, a group headed by singer Chis Norman was established. The band has changed their name several times - Yen, Essence, Elizabethans, Smokey, until the middle of the 70s.
Smokie in the first years of their existence only performed in small clubs around their residence. Soon, however, their popularity began to rise, released several singles, completed various television performances and a smaller tour. In 1975, young musicians noticed influential producer Nicky Chin and took over. Smokie released their debut album and then dominated the world charts! The first single of the new album "IF You Think You Know How to Love Me" soon became a hit, followed with a huge success "Don´t Play Your Rock'n´roll to Me" and Smokie quickly ranked among the world music elite and such stars 70.
For their existence, Glam Rocky Smokie released over two dozen studio albums, of course there are also collections of the biggest hits and live albums.
