Antonín Dvořák
Slavic dances (I. Series, Op. 46 and II. Series, Op. 72)
Slavic dance. These were created at the request of the Berlin publisher Fritz Simrock, in two rows in the range of eight years. They are based on one of the basic forms of folk music, ie folk dance, and with their originality and concept opened the door to Dvořák abroad. It is a processing of melodic-harmonic and rhythmic patterns of music culture of Slavic nations. First of all, we find mostly Czech dances, the only foreign is the Ukrainian Duma (No.2). The second series includes a selection of more international - in addition to Czech dances, there is a Slovak ODZEMEK, Serbian bike, Polonais and again a popular Dumka, now in two versions. Dvořák wrote the first series of Slavic dances in 1878 and completed the work on all tanks on July 9, 1886. This time, however, we decided to offer our listeners this national treasure of Czech and world music. The complete cycle is marked by the promoter of Czech music and a significant conductor, great Petr Altrichter.
