almost fifteen years ago we played a beautiful concert in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House, which included two giants, conductor Libor Pešek and actor Jan Tříska. The program included a French composer, writer and music critic Hector Berlioz and his two breathtaking works, a fantastic symphony "Episode of the Life of the Artist" and Lyric Monodrama Lélio or Return to Life. It is no doubt that the fantastic symphony has become the composer's most famous song. It is full of love, passion, inner tension and disappointment. After all, Berlioz himself said that "music is an expression of passionate and unfortunate souls." The girl that Hector Berlioz loved so much, and gave both songs to her, eventually succumbed to Berlioz. But their love did not last long, divorced in a few years. We find recitation, solo and choral singing and parts purely orchestral. And also an unforgettable returning musical motif from the fantastic symphony of the so -called Idée Fixe. The world premiere of both works took place in 1832.
Now these two breathtaking compositions can be listened to by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Philharmonic Corps Brno, under the baton of Chief Conductor Steven Mercuria. The narrator will be actor Martin Hofmann.
