The deadline is 3.3.2025. The eight -week seminar starts in the week of 10.3.2025.
Do you care about the world to make the world better? 🌍 Do you want to contribute to this and are looking for ways to do it best? Effective altruism seeks to find the most effective ways to use our resources (time, energy and money) to improve the world. Not all charity activities have the same impact and some may be more effective than others.
How to think about the efficiency in these efforts? Which projects can have a particularly significant positive effect on the world? In spring and autumn we regularly organize an eight -week seminar, where we use scientific approach, rationality and current professional analysis to answer these questions. We have prepared a seminar according to a tested program from prestigious universities (Stanford, Oxford, etc.).
💡 What will you learn? For example, we will discuss the following questions:
- Which problems seem to be the most pressing and reiterate the most attention? Impact? Why do we tend to underestimate the difference between saving 100 and 1000 lives? 🎓 How is the seminar going?
You will read texts from different sources in English every week. Preparation takes about 3 hours a week.
You will be divided into smaller groups of 3 to 6 people that will meet once a week for an hourly discussion where you will discuss the read texts for the week. The discussion itself takes place in Czech.
The discussion will help you understand and organize your thoughts and also get to know interesting and inspiring people who have the same interest in charity and efficiency. You will get space for questioning and clarifying your moral values. The meeting begins in week 10. - 16 March. The deadline for applications is on Monday, March 3. Specific regular meetings will be arranged according to the time possibilities of participants in individual groups. The meeting will be 8 - each week one.
🗺️ Where? The meetings will discuss in person in Prague or Brno, or online. (Personal meetings may be in another city if a group of interested parties meet here.)
