About event
What is salon music and what does the term bar piano mean? And what elements belong to this style? Can a bar pianist learn something from Liszt's techniques as an arranger? And in times of music streaming and the constant availability of music, does this type of acoustic sprinkling still have any justification?
Terms such as salon orchestra or café house music seem out of date, and yet the live music in the background, intended purely for entertainment, has not lost its charm, pure hedonism.
This is the question that should be at stake, in a deliberately loose framework* Nikolas Jeroma describes salon music from the 19th century, Adaptations of classical works as well as classical bar piano playing are offered, peppered with lots of background information.
* In this lecture concert, the consumption of food and drinks from the bistro in the hall is exceptionally permitted.
Program
Music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Frédéric Chopin, Johann Strauss, Franz Liszt, Radiohead and much more.
Duration of the event: approx. 1 hour without a break
