THE NEXT EVENING OF THE SAFE SPACES CYCLE, PREPARED AS PART OF THE PRAGUE PRIDE FESTIVAL, FOLLOWS ON THE STAGE OF HOW TO BECOME DIFFERENT, INSPIRED BY ÉDOUARD LOUIS'S NOVEL. DISCUSSION WILL OPEN THE TOPICS OF ADOLESCENTING, QUEER IDENTITY, THE RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHERS AND SONS, AND THE QUESTION OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN INTIMATE FAMILY EXPERIENCE BECOME A PUBLIC STORY.
What value can "escape" from an environment of violence, silence, social norms and expectations have? What does it mean to write about one's own life and about the people who are closest to us? And where is the line between personal statement, autofiction and invasion of privacy?
The evening will also focus on how literature and art can transform the view of family, class, identity and the possibility of becoming someone else.
