About event
Two power trios and then everyone together, an evening so full of energy that you can't believe it!
FRISK will come from Pardubice...
František R. Václavík: el. guitar, cymbals. Recently, the trio Frisk has been working on partially composed musical units, where rhythmic structures appear between sonic explosions, conceptual sophistication goes hand in hand with openness, and the muezzin's voice sometimes flows from the free jazz overcoat. After the debut record Science Friction from 2017 (Meteorismo Records), the band Frisk recorded their second album in 2020, entitled Rëntës, which was released in February 2022 on the label 13 raw. It also hosted several musicians known from the domestic experimental scene, such as Miroslav Tóth, the trio The Mond (Ganfield/Mäkelä/Vrba), Jan Dudéšek or Barbora Nowak. In addition to playing in Czech and Slovak clubs, the trio Frisk performed at the festivals Alternativa, Jazz Goes To Town, Hear Me, Hluková mystéria, Manadava Jazz or at the n:ear festival in Banská Štiavnica. seven-string violin
Jan Turner: bass guitar
Pavel Havrda: drums
Where the tinsmiths blindly forge in dark, twisted shafts and the mechanics swirl with their collection of ratchet wrenches, disassembling the self-motion of sound into components, there Rolba mixes various binders and conscientiously prepares parts and parts and layers them, sinks them, erects them and anchors them. With a three-pronged ruler of seven-string violins, basses and drums, supplemented by borrowed compasses and a pencil, he builds a structure of surprising complexity, in which among the complicated surreal ornaments of pure imagination, elements remain humbly paying tribute to unattainable architects from the Coltrane school, graduates of Hendrix's detention center, or perhaps an unquestionable and age-old folklore tradition. Where improvisation usually relies on the sheer shock of the loss of language, Rolba does not avoid storytelling, moving freely from overarching myths to subtle narratives of shared experience. Frisk:
"The music of the band Frisk is reminiscent of the robbery of a neat canoe rental. Someone has pryed, robbed, smashed, trashed the Sunday river place. Trees on the bank broken, lock hacked with an axe, all the canoes belly up and holes, the mooring post crossed, the boards out of the screws - and in between pieces of paddles, buckets, ship seats and washing sponges. You wander among the scattered and broken sounds, the broken rhythms and sighs, the dangerous silence: every stolen place is so unpleasant and so attractive. You want to get out of here - but you don't! And then - here, where everything reminds of everything and somewhere there is a hidden thief - you hear an unheard of song (even with half the chorus). You freeze and suddenly you don't know if you are a listless river guest, a thief, an unsuccessful melancholic watchman or a homeless person angry at half the world. The song is playing, nothing is clear and the world is full of extenuating circumstances." culture.
