About event
The Vienna Central Cemetery has been since A “history book” of the city for 150 years. Numerous well-known personalities who have shaped Vienna's past and present rest here. But the cemetery also tells an important chapter of queer history.
On our tour, we explore the final resting places of historical figures connected to queer history and culture. In addition to famous names such as Eduard van der Nüll, Franz Schubert, Nikolaus Dumba, the Wittgenstein family, Wenzel Graf Gleispach, Marcel Prawy, Engelbert Broda, Johanna Dohnal, Dorothea Neff & Eva Zilcher, Rosa Jochmann, Max Lorenz and Theodor Körner, we also encounter lesser-known but equally moving fates.
We particularly commemorate Franz Doms, who was murdered during the Nazi era and since then Recently also Hermes Phettberg, one of the most dazzling figures in recent Viennese cultural history.
Are you curious? Then join us in this commemoration of queer people at the Vienna Central Cemetery!
