About event
The impressionistic post-punk Detroit quartet Protomartyr returns to Prague after nine years ☽
Since their debut album No Passion All Technique from 2012, Protomartyr have mastered the art of masterfully evoking the atmosphere of a place: in their work, they set to music the rough modesty of the American Midwest, rendered with an X-ray view of the current situation in the USA. Protomartyr - singer Joe Casey, guitarist Greg Ahee, drummer Alex Leonard and bassist Scott Davidson - have become synonymous with emotion-charged, political and poetic noise rock in their sixteen years of existence.
They will follow up their last album Formal Growth in the Desert from 2023 with a new album, which they will present at Prague's MeetFactory on February 28, 2027.
"As they continue to challenge conventions and push boundaries, while still being utterly and completely themselves, Protomartyr stand tall as a testament to the enduring spirit of innovation that defines Detroit's rich musical history." — Pitchfork

Impressionistic post-punk of Detroit quartet Protomartyr heads to Prague after nine years ☽
Since their 2012 debut No Passion All Technique, Protomartyr have mastered the art of evoking place: the harshmodesty of the Midwest, as well as the X-Rayed elucidation of America that comes with their vantage. Protomartyr — vocalist Joe Casey, guitarist Greg Ahee, drummer Alex Leonard, and bassist Scott Davidson — have, over their sixteen years of existence, become synonymous with caustic, impressionistic assemblages of politics and poetry, the literal and oblique.
Following their most recent record to date, 2023's Formal Growth in the Desert, Protomartyr return with a brand new album and a European tour set for early 2027, with a stop at Prague's MeetFactory on February 28.
