About event
WORKING TOGETHER / Work progress & Joint vacation
The program will take place in two parallel places:
FRANTIŠK SUCHÉ PARK “joint vacation”
– activity: putting together a puzzle in the park
How to spend time together without performance, goals and productivity?
Puzzles become a common mandala — we may not even have time to put them together, and if so, eventually we break it down.
There is a space to be together without the need to create, prove or leave something behind.
What will be left of our meeting? What will be left for us?
Putting together puzzles becomes a silent resistance to constant production — a search for meaning in an activity with an uncertain result.
PROSTOR OLGA “work progress”
– projection in a loop / marathon of freshman exercises of current and former students of the department of documentary production
Work progress is the first assignment in which KDT FAMU students learn to tell a story on film. Everyone has a beginning, middle and end. In the course of it, a transformation will occur — something will arise, appear or disappear.
Exercises at the department have existed for decades. Every year, five new work processes will emerge.
What happens when we see five, ten, thirty or a hundred of them together? How much attention are we able to pay to individual films? And what is the point of creating more next year?
At 19:30 a screening of the film Avitaminosis (Kateryna Ruzhyna, 2023) + after the discussion with the author.
Annotation from čsfd: The labor market crisis accompanying the Covid-19 pandemic forced Kateryna to work in a fraudulent call center that sells vitamins promising customers a "miracle" treatment. Although the work helped her to survive financially, months of isolation, irritated customers and frustration caused her to suffer from vitamin deficiency, the so-called avitaminosis. This fragile film seeks healing and love in an increasingly suffocating world for young generations.
The evening's dramaturgy is provided by current KDT student Hana Slaninová.
It takes place as part of the year-long exhibition series TESTING THE SYSTEM.
The current exhibition LIKE A STONE AGAINST THE SKY focuses on work as a theme and problem of art.
The gallery project is implemented with financial support office of the City of Prague 10, hl. City of Prague and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
The Olga space with the gallery is open to the public every Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.
