About event
Screening and discussion with Marian Kulich, member of Peace of Ukraine.
Marian Kulich is a Slovak civil activist and co-founder of the Peace of Ukraine initiative, a well-known civil movement supporting Ukraine and promoting democratic values in Slovakia. He is one of the public faces of this initiative and participates in organizing demonstrations, public events and fundraisers that point to the human impact of the Russian war against Ukraine.
Through Peace of Ukraine, he was involved in a number of important national initiatives that mobilized public support and raised significant funds for humanitarian and defense aid. He regularly communicates the results of these campaigns and cooperates with partners in Ukraine, where he meets with representatives of civil society and local communities affected by the war.
Kulich is also active in public life outside the non-profit sector. He took part in civic activities to defend democratic institutions and European values and works as an elected deputy in the Bratislava–Staré Mesto district. His work combines community engagement, public communication and long-term support of Ukraine and its people. Today, Marian Kulich is seen as one of the most visible Slovak voices promoting solidarity with Ukraine and supporting a democratic, open and pro-European Slovakia. of the Russian-Ukrainian war from a personal and overwhelming perspective. After his historic testimony of civilian suffering in Mariupol, Mstyslav Chernov turns his camera on Ukrainian soldiers — who they are, where they come from, and the impossible decisions they face in the trenches as they fight for every inch of their country.
Amidst a failed counteroffensive in 2023, Chernov and AP colleague Alex Babenko follow a Ukrainian brigade fighting its way through approx. through a one and a half kilometer long stretch of densely fortified forest in an attempt to liberate the Russian-occupied village of Andrijivka. Through authentic footage, intense videos from the body cameras of the Ukrainian army and powerful moments of reflection, the film 2000 METERS TO ANDRIJIVKA reveals with chilling intimacy that the further the soldiers advance through the destroyed homeland, the more they realize that this war may never end for them.
