About the content of the book

Can a person exist twice?Hendrik Popom imagined his late twenties differently. Nothing really works for him. He's serving his time at his agency job, things were going better with his girlfriend, and then suddenly there's this man - Popóm. He is almost twice as old and yet Hendrik knows: I am that man.
The two of them hesitantly approach each other. Their relationship is full of mystery, affection and adversity. Hendrik hopes to find in his other self what he is missing in his life - support and confidence. But the more he clings to Popóm, the more he retreats. When he confides in a colleague, he realizes what a high price one pays when one withdraws from life.
In ›Popóm‹, the classic literary motif of the doppelganger unfolds against the backdrop of an increasingly confusing present. After the great success of her debut ›Nincshof‹ and the short story ›Das Gurkerl‹, which won multiple awards at the Bachmann Competition, Johanna Sebauer is once again exploring the boundaries between fiction and reality - light-footed and
with fine humor.
