We are in 2080. After a deep systemic crisis, a series of pandemics, local wars and the total collapse of civilization, all that remains is only a tenth of humanity. Nature grows through the emptied cities. We have top technologies, we live in small agglomerations, we do sports and eat healthy, all the knowledge of humanity is available to anyone in electronic libraries. Yet we do not know what is the essence of our survival. And so we examine one of the last specimens of the old generation. What is hidden in its genetic code? How could he survive all those horrors?
Or we are in 2016. All those horrors are experienced or yet to be experienced and we wander through the inner universe of a psychotic cosmonaut, an aging man whose fragmented mind is trying its last strength to integrate.< br/>
Either way, a new one is being created on the ruins of the old world. The thoughts, emotions, memories and stories experienced by an individual or experienced by humanity must be put together into a meaningful whole. Will it succeed thanks to cooperation, solidarity, responsibility and compassion?

VÁCLAV KAHUDA (real name Petr Kratochvíl, 8 November 1965– . 7. 2023) was an unmistakable Czech novelist. He trained as a plasterer, worked as a night watchman in a museum, a gravedigger or a stoker. In 2017 and 2018, he was the chairman of the Association of Writers. In the second half of the 80s of the 20th century, he joined a society that met in Braník at the Na Stará kovárna pub. There he was also involved in the creation of the Three Sisters group. In the 1990s, he drew attention to himself with the novella The Tale of the Basilisk or the novel Houština. He also had the novella Veselá bída, a collection of short stories Exhumation and the novel Proudy to his credit. In 2015, he was nominated for the Magnesia Litera Literary Award for a comprehensive novel called Wind, Darkness, Presence. It is thematically followed by the novel Bytost (2017), in which it focuses on a peculiar prediction of the near future. His literary and life journey concludes with the unconventionally and utopianly engaged novel Pram (2022), in which he develops many of the motifs of his previous works. In his books, Kahuda creates unique and peculiar worlds, his statement is ambiguous and presents many layers to the reader. "This is who we really are, this is the world we live in... The context determines everything," he said in an essay for Czech Radio, Vltava station in 2017. For him, culture is "first and foremost a responsibility to accept, preserve and then pass the torch of life on this planet".
