⫸ The horrors of the past, the thwarted lives, the remains of uranium mines and the work camps. The forgotten history in Kyrgyzstan is slowly taking away time and its knowledge is increasingly preventing the growing influence of Russia. Among the victims of Soviet repression were also a number of inhabitants of Czechoslovakia. In the spring of 1925, hundreds of them have set thousands of kilometers to far steppes in the foothills of Tan Shano, and in the backward corner of the Soviet Empire they built a prosperous communion "interhelpo". Their success, however, was cruelly redeemed by diseases, deaths and growing Stalinist terror. They arrived in Pišpek (today's Bishkek) on April 24, 1925. It was thanks to the Gulag.cz expedition that the names of more than fifty Czechs and Slovaks, who became victims of Soviet repression. Over two dozen of them were executed in Stalina. We managed to track down the Kyrgyz offices, for example, we found one of the mass burial grounds, ”says Štěpán Černoušek, the author and chairman of the Gulag.cz organization.
