About event
π₯ Pillion. Director: Harry Lighton, UK/IR, 2025, 103 min, en + cz sub (π¬π§ english friendly, πππ πππππ€)
Colin (Harry Melling) lives a routine life in the London suburbs. He spends his days at work and sings with his father's barbershop quartet every Sunday in a pub. Sweet but shy Colin lives at home with his father Pete and mother Peggy, who is in the final stages of cancer and constantly tries to get Colin a date. His life changes when he is approached by Ray (Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd), a mysterious member of a biker gang. Ray is dominant - incredibly handsome, strong but emotionally indifferent and not looking for a conventional relationship. Colin falls in love with him, moves into his house and does everything Ray asks of him. Debutant director Harry Lighton tells a tender story of love in a BDSM environment with subtle humor, the so-called. dom-com, enveloped in the noise of high-revving motorbikes. The film has received positive reviews since its release at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay.
Note: The word "pillion" refers to a seat on a motorcycle, intended for a passenger who sits behind the biker. While preparing for filming, director Lighton spent a weekend with real-life members of the Gay Bikers Motorcycle Club (GBMCC), who later became his advisors and appeared in the film as members of a gay biker gang.
Director and screenwriter Harry Lighton made a bold feature debut based on the novel Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones. Pillion premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it won the Best Screenplay Award, and scored multiple nominations at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
