About event
We would like to invite you to the Vyšehrad piet for JUDr. Milada Horáková, which will take place on Friday 26 June 2026 from 4:00 p.m.
Entrance to NKP Vyšehrad and parking for invited guests is provided.
In the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul, where the opening part of the piety will take place, we will be joined by a number of honored guests, and among them the family members of the persons convicted in the trial of Milada Horáková are especially welcome. The Kutěj couple also promised to participate, who recently donated a lithograph of Milada Horáková's portrait to the Club with a rare dedication. This painting will be displayed in the basilica during the pieta. Also on the program is a commemoration of twelve brave women who were imprisoned for political reasons in the 1950s and 1960s and in their letters informed the then UN Secretary General about staged trials and unbearable conditions in Czechoslovak prisons. Actress Daniela Kolářová will read a letter from one of the imprisoned women, Dagmar Skálova, which illustrates the whole situation very well. Traditionally, the choir of the Milada Horáková Gymnasium under the direction of Ondřej Žák will decorate the pieta with their singing.
After the devotional meeting in the basilica, flowers will be laid on the cenotaph of Milada Horáková.
The Royal Collegiate Chapter of Peter and Paul in Vyšehrad invites all participants to a follow-up pieta, prayer and reflection at the Memorial of Priests, Religious and of religious.
After the piet, a small refreshment will be prepared in Karlachový sady near the Vyšehradské hřbitov.
If you cannot attend this piet in person, it will be possible to watch an online stream of the entire piet meeting on our website and on FB. Through the stream, we will be connected with Milada Horáková's daughter Jana Kánská and also with Milada Horáková's niece Milena Bartoszewicz, who live in the USA
