With the book Slovenské storočie, Pavel Kosatík departs from his hitherto predominant focus on Czech history. It traces the developmental arc described by Slovak society in the years 1918-1998, and comes to the conclusion that the Slovaks did not waste their historical time.

They started from a much worse starting position than the Czechs, their public and political life not only had no structure, but mainly did not exist. At the end of the 20th century, however, this previously almost non-existent society was able to unite and rid itself of the power of a giant with dictatorial ambitions.
The Slovak Century is also a book about joint Czech-Slovak history. In it, Czech and Slovak readers will find answers to questions about what forces formed specific forms of Czech-Slovak coexistence, and what Czech responsibility is for the fact that common life in one state ended in misunderstanding.
