About event
Patrick Watson presents new album "Uh Oh" in January, live in Berlin
The Montreal-based songwriter Patrick Watson should be known to everyone by now, at least since his song "Je te laisserai des mots" went viral on TikTok. With lots of piano, a great band and his crystal-clear, melancholic voice, he sent goosebumps over everyone's bodies. Patrick Watson loves being able to play live again, and especially sing. The latter wasn't possible for a while - and this experience also shapes his upcoming album "Uh Oh", which will be released at the end of September.
In the winter of 2023, Patrick Watson suddenly awoke to find that he had lost his voice. A blood vessel in his vocal cords burst and he couldn't speak for three months. This moment now opens the new record.
A composer and songwriter who has written and recorded over a dozen film scores can cope without his own voice for a while. “At one point I thought, “If I can’t rely on my own voice, I could write songs for all the singers I love.” When his voice was finally fully functional again, it became a mixed form: Watson often lets singers like Charlotte Cardin, Martha Wainwright, MARO, La Force or November Ultra take the lead, but also sings along himself.
On January 23rd and 24th, Patrick Watson will be stopping off at the Berlin silent green, Betonhalle as part of his “Uh Oh Tour 2025/26” - and the history of the album and the choice of location already make it clear that you will experience a very special show.
