Start the winter season off with craft and community by learning to paint snowy landscape postcards in watercolor. Create a holiday gift that can be mailed to your loved ones, framed and wrapped under the Christmas tree, or kept for yourself! No experience necessary and all supplies included.

I'll teach you how to paint a beautiful snowy winter wonderland with watercolors! We will warm up by exploring our color palette as always. I will begin by demonstrating my techniques to winter landscape painting in watercolor, focusing on the shadows in the snow and the textures of snowy PNW evergreen trees. You'll be able to follow along as I paint, or simply watch or take notes. You'll then be able to apply your new skills to your own postcard, choosing to use the same reference photo I used in my demonstration, or one of your own choosing. Reference photo options will be provided, or you can bring your own photo if you'd like to make your postcard extra personal!
You'll take home a finished snowy landscape painting on postcard paper that is ready to stick in the mail! You'll also leave with a set of artist's skills that you'll be able to directly apply to future paintings - whether you paint in your bedroom or plein air out in nature. A limited palette of watercolors and high quality watercolor postcard paper will be provided at the event, but you are encouraged to bring your favorite painting supplies as well. Food and drinks are not included in ticket price, but can be purchased separately to enjoy while we paint. Venue is all ages, and we'll be in a private space away from the main crowds. Spaces are limited, so make sure to reserve your spot soon. See you there!

Arin: Arin is a watercolor and mixed media artist based in Portland. With a background in the physical sciences, she lives at the intersection of nature, science and art and uses art as a platform to teach, explore and understand how the world works while breaking down the barrier between art and science.
