About the film:
An important film that should not escape our attention - 2,000 meters to Andrijivka. Documentary film by the Oscar-winning director Mstyslav Chernov (20 days in Mariupol), which follows the mission of a Ukrainian platoon from the front line, namely to overcome two kilometers of a heavily fortified strip of forest in order to liberate a strategic village from Russian military units. The film accurately and without pathos shows the reality of war and raises the question of the value of each step forward.
The film won the Award for Best Director in the category World Documentary Film - Sundance 2025.
You can watch the screened film thanks to the cooperation with the film festival One World and their project One World in Communities.
After the screening, we invite you to a panel discussion with Marián Kulich. (OZ Mier Ukraine) and teacher Juraj Smatan, which will follow after a short break after the projection. The discussion will be devoted in more detail to the topics raised by this document. Among other things, also:
- the current situation on the front line, the conditions in which it is fought and the effect of the war of attrition on the soldiers themselves but also on the entire Ukrainian society,
- considering that Europe 8.5. commemorates the end of the Second World War and the defeat of fascism, we will also focus on the historical parallels between the current situation in Europe and the situation during the Second World War and the relationship of Ukrainians to these historical events in the light of the ongoing full-scale war with Russia.
Iva Posluchová will accompany the discussion.
