THE STORY OF ONE COLLECTION
50 years between concept and reality
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its foundation, the Považská art gallery in Žilina will present an exhibition dedicated to the very essence of the gallery - its collection. Through the works acquired over five decades, it will show the main conceptual lines of its construction - from regional art and important figures of Slovak visual arts of the 20th century through drawing to intermedial art.
The exhibition will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at the gallery's work
and will show the collection as a living organism whose form is shaped by professional decisions, historical circumstances, economic possibilities and the cultural politics of its time. It will thus open up the questions of how common cultural memory is created, who shapes it and what will be preserved for future generations.

The event is held under the auspices of the chairwoman of the Žilina self-governing region Ing. Erika Jurinová.
The opening ceremony will be complemented by a musical program in which Zuzana Patrnčiaková's voice and piano, Ondrej Hanuliak's violin and heligon and a DJ set by DJ Mishek will meet.
