Contemporary Polish-Russian playwright Ivan Vyrypajev got his characters drunk to desocialize them and follow their desperately messed up lives. In a single night, his drunkards meet by chance to find together where the damned god is actually waiting for them and try to transform their lives before the inexorably approaching dawn appears.

Vyrypayev is a leading figure in Russian New Drama, focusing on realistic acting and social issues. His Drunks are a sympathetic look at the middle class, who have only climbed the career ladder through life and are now painfully waking up to the reality of their personal life.
