Operné štúdio SND I M. Dubovský: Traja kohúti (svetová premiéra)

The SND Opera Studio has prepared another artistic project that certainly deserves attention. The management of the studio selected the comic opera Three Roosters by the important composer Milan Dubovský from the extensive selection of Slovak works.

The author wrote it back in the eighties of the last century for the SND, but the work was never published. Today, after forty years, we will present it in a world premiere as part of the Year of Slovak Music. The composer plays a farce inspired by Honoré de Balzac's short story Beautiful Empire, which was adapted into a libretto by Miroslav Horňák.

The plot, originally set in medieval France, presents five characters who differ in social status, but not in character: they want to be rich, famous, influential and desire pleasure. The story opens up issues of guilt and responsibility that go beyond the specific situation and take on a timeless dimension.

The original musical manuscript of the work is based mainly on the expressive means of neoclassicism.

Don't miss this exceptional premiere by the members of the SND Opera Studio, in a musical staging by Lukáš Kunst, under the direction of the head of the opera studio, Jolana Fogašová. Directed by Dominik Beneš.
