Opera SND I G. Verdi: AIDA

A monumental romantic fresco from ancient Egypt!
How to decide between love and duty?
To follow the voice of the heart, or to remain loyal to the country?
Verdi's Aida tells the captivating story of an Ethiopian princess in Egyptian captivity and Duke Radames, who finds himself faced with a fateful choice. Aida, Radames and the Egyptian princess Amneris are drawn into a tragic conflict of passion, power and betrayal from which there is no escape.

Magnificent choral scenes alternate with intimate, deeply emotional scenes in which Verdi's mature musical language reveals the inner world of the characters. Music and text combine into impressive images of characters, relationships and dramatic situations.

Aida is one of the most popular works of world opera literature. It was commissioned by Egypt and had its premiere in Cairo in 1871, where it was an extraordinary success.

Under the baton of Tomáš Brauner, in the main roles of Mária Porubčinová, Sung Kyu Park (debut in the CIS), Peter Mikuláš, Monika Fabianová and others.
