We invite you to participate in the interdisciplinary art project Organisms Democracy Prague, which Studio ALTA is preparing in cooperation with the Berlin collective Organisms Democracy on July 11-20, 2026.
𓆨
Organisms Democracy is a long-term participatory art practice that opens the question of what the city would look like if we they thought about it not only from a human perspective, but also from the perspective of its non-human inhabitants – the animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, viruses and other forms of life with which we share the urban landscape.
🐛
It is not just a metaphor, but a concrete way to think through new possibilities of interspecies coexistence through art, research and collective imagination. The project follows on from the collective's previous successful productions realized in Berlin, Vienna, Freiburg, Gelsenkirchen, Paris or Augsburg.
🧫
During the ten-day workshop, you will get to know the methods that Organisms Democracy has been developing for a long time, such as interspecies debates, species ambassadorship or multispecies storytelling. The workshop will create a space for collective creative work at the border of theatre, ecology, research and imagination.
🧬
The output of the workshop will be four repeats of the public performative walk Organisms Democracy Prague, which will give the audience the opportunity to experience the city through the voices, conflicts and alliances of its non-human inhabitants.
🔬
We are looking for students, artists and other interested parties from the general public who are interested in the relationship between art, ecology, public space and collective creation. Previous experience with theater work is not required.
🪸
The project includes four reprises of a performative walk - each awarded with the amount of CZK 1,000. Two repetitions will take place immediately after the workshop, the remaining two will take place in September. Specific dates will be specified later.
The price of the workshop is CZK 3,000, so you will pay back your investment in the workshop by performing on the walks. We will be happy to help students arrange a scholarship.
If you are tempted to join a process that connects artistic practice with ecological imagination and seeks more sensitive and solidary ways of coexistence between species, please contact us at mara@altart.cz
We look forward to meeting you at ALTA Studio ♡

We invite you to take part in the interdisciplinary art project Organisms Democracy Prague, prepared by Studio ALTA in collaboration with the Berlin-based collective Organisms Democracy, taking place from July 11–20, 2026.

Organisms Democracy is a long-term participatory artistic practice that explores what a city might look like if we didn’t think about it solely from a human perspective, but also from the perspective of its other-than-human inhabitants – animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, viruses, and other forms of life with whom we share the urban environment.
🐛
This is not merely a metaphor, but a concrete approach to imagining new possibilities of interspecies coexistence through art, research, and collective imagination. The project builds on the collective’s previous successful works presented in Berlin, Vienna, Freiburg, Gelsenkirchen, Paris, and Augsburg.
🧫
During the ten-day workshop, you will become familiar with methods that Organisms Democracy has been developing over time, such as interspecies debates, species ambassadors, and multispecies storytelling. The workshop creates a space for collective creative work at the intersection of theatre, ecology, research, and imagination.
🧬
The outcome of the workshop will be four public performances in the form of a performative walk, Organisms Democracy Prague, offering audiences the opportunity to experience the city through the voices, conflicts, and alliances of its other-than-human inhabitants.
🔬
We are looking for students, artists, and anyone interested from the wider public who is curious about the intersection of art, ecology, public space, and collective creation. No prior experience with theater is required.
🪸
The project includes four repeat performances of the performative walk, each compensated at 1,000 CZK. Two will take place right after the workshop, and the other two in September. Specific dates are to be confirmed. The workshop fee is 3,000 CZK, so the investment pays itself back through the performance fees. Students can get help arranging a scholarship.
We are happy to support students in arranging scholarships.
If you feel drawn to join a process that connects artistic practice with ecological imagination and seeks more sensitive and solidar ways of coexistence between species, please contact us at mara@altart.cz.
