Swedish melancholy in the raw scenery of the Strahov Seven. Oh Hiroshima will bring their atmospheric surfaces and emotional gradations to complement the Barrens with their predatory, instrumental post-rock full of synths and darkness. Nordic precision and sonic depth in one.
Oh Hiroshima are no longer just "another post-rock band" from the North. Since the breakthrough album In Silence We Yearn, they have moved to a more layered sound, where not only guitar walls play a role, but also distinctive rhythms and occasional, very sensitive vocals, which are not usually standard in the genre. Their current work, represented by the records Myriad and the latest All Things Shining, balances on the edge between dreamlike fragility and intense noise.
Barrens, a trio linked to the local underground elite (including members of Scraps of Tape) will appear as a counterpoint. Their debut Conditioned to Strike defined a sound that is rooted in post-rock, but is not afraid of dirt, synthesizers and even industrial brevity. The Barrens don't build endless expanses for dreamers; their music is more of a soundtrack to a concrete dystopia where mechanical drums and distorted textures push relentlessly forward. Expect a set closer to post-metal rawness than dreamy shoegaze.
