Art and climate? Two worlds that at first glance have nothing to do with each other. But art has also long been concerned with the climate crisis. It not only affects science and politics, but also poses challenges for the art world. At a time when environmental destruction and social injustice are becoming increasingly visible, we ask ourselves: What role does art play? How can artists draw attention to the climate crisis, stimulate thought or even show solutions?
Perhaps new art can even emerge from crises? Dealing with the climate crisis today is diverse. It shows anger, sadness, despair, but also hope and sometimes humor. Instead of just relying on facts and figures, artists often take emotional approaches to the topic.
As time for action is running out, art could help to create new perspectives. It changes how we see the world and deal with information. Art creates change - and change inspires art.
