About event
Two women, one man and one son - a class meeting that turns into an arena full of raw confrontation, great emotions and black humor.
Annotation:
Theatrical production The Root of a Woman begins as a standard school interview between a parent and a teacher, but quickly degenerates into a funny, devastating and raw confrontation between two women. On one side stands the working mother Marie, fighting to save her family, and on the other, the young class teacher Tereza, who is in love with Maria's husband.
In the course of the conversation, which oscillates between hysterical anger, sadness and dark humor, not only the details of the affair are revealed, but also the deep-rooted frustrations of both women: lack of recognition, loneliness, lost dreams, the desire for change. It is not just a love triangle, but a clash of two worlds, two life attitudes and two forms of pain.
A gripping drama with elements of black comedy from the pen of the young Canadian playwright Jordi Mand has been receiving one standing ovation after another since its premiere in Toronto in 2012. In the Czech premiere, the excellent actresses Martina Preissová and Pavla Gajdošíková took on the roles in the battle of women's hearts. The director is Tomáš Mašín.
Czech premiere at Galaxie Culture Station
