About event
🔑 Come and celebrate with us the day when courage and freedom won. On this occasion, we will jointly unveil the November 1989 Memorial.
On the holiday when we commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Gentle Revolution, we will meet at Freedom Square - a place that was one of the most important centers of public gatherings and a symbol of the student movement in November 1989.
Program for November 17 - Freedom Square
🕒 15:30 - music related to the period of November 89 will be played on the spot, several songs will be played live by Martin Geišberg.
🎤 16:30 - Start of the official program
➡️ the mayor of the capital, the administrator of the Slovenská sporiteľna Foundation
➡️ and guests directly connected with the events of 1989
🕯️ 17:11 - After the ceremony the unveiling of the monument will be heard at 5:11 p.m. Prayer for Martha performed by Zuzana Mauréra, which will symbolically connect us with Prague in the common memory of November 89.
This monument should remind us not only of non-violent civil resistance, which managed to break the power of the arrogance of power. It is intended to underline the power of truth, civic courage and democratic values that we must protect even today.
The monument was created thanks to the Memorial Initiative, the city of Bratislava and the Slovenská sporiteľna Foundation. BKIS will take care of the program.
