Wood in various forms accompanies our lives practically on a daily basis. Through a process known as photosynthesis, the energy of sunlight is converted into storage energy - sugar, which is transported from the leaves to the roots and stored in the cells. The carbohydrates produced in this way are fixed in the cell walls, woody and form a complex plant tissue - wood. Thanks to this "production process", wood becomes one of the largest carbon stores on the planet, which we are able to monitor in detail and use daily.
